On Wednesday RigorSports won an easy comp in the forum with the Yankees / Red Sox over. Here is another comp for everybody off Friday's RigorSports card.
Friday night the Tigers travel to Texas to take on the American League leading Rangers. The Rangers come in with a 68 - 48 record which is impressive considering their season run differential is only +5. Despite a four game losing streak the Tigers are in the thick of the playoff race sitting at 61 - 53.
The Rangers send Yu Darvish to the mound in hopes he can win a game. His season ERA is 2.78 but the Rangers are only 3 - 5 in games he starts. In Yu's starts the Rangers have averaged a measly 2 runs a game. For whatever reason when Yu is pitching the Rangers aren't hitting.
The Tigers counter with Venezuelan gas can Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez for the most part has been awful for a second straight season. He was terrible in 2015 and even worse this year sporting a massive 5.88 ERA including a 1.55 WHIP. He's somehow managed to win 6 games against 11 losses. In his road starts the Tigers are 2 - 11 with the wins coming against last place Tampa Bay and Miami.
The Rangers put up 9 runs last night and the Tigers had the day off for rest/travel. As bad as Sanchez has been we expect the Rangers to struggle to plate 4 and we know Yu will do his thing. Hopefully the Tigers bullpen can keep the Rangers in check late.
